Rahmah Omar is a mother of 3 and a proud grandmother of 1. Rahmah is a prominent Interpreter and translator for the Region. Through her work as an interpreter and close interactions with the Muslim Community, especially the Somali Community, she advocates and supports new Somali families in the Region with issues surrounding housing through her position on the Board of the Tenant Advisory Committee for the Region of Waterloo, language barriers, community disputes, outreach programs and much more. In addition to being a prominent interpreter and translator in our community, Rahmah Omar is also one of the founding members of the Coalition of Muslim Women of KW. Where she advocates for the rights of Muslim women in KW. Rahmah’s philanthropy and ongoing efforts to promote the welfare of others in her community have lead her to be the recipient of the Leading Women Building Communities Recognition Award. Her efforts and work in the Region are unquantifiable and she hopes to continue to extend her efforts in her community through her position here with Somali Canadian Association of Waterloo Region.
